About Bodybase
From passion project to a growing international brand
BodyBase started with one woman’s passion for movement, hospitality and bringing people together. Today, that passion has grown into an international brand with studios, signature workouts, our own equipment, education, events and a community that continues to grow.
But no matter how far we expand, BodyBase will always be about people. We believe that when people feel supported, inspired and empowered, they can achieve more than they imagined. That applies to our members and just as much to our team.
2018
Where the journey began
From passion to idea to start-up. Sabrina set out to create a Reformer that could do more than Pilates. Stepping completely outside her comfort zone, she teamed up with Dutch product developers and a manufacturer, and the BodyBase journey began.
2019
From prototype to first studio
The first BaseLine prototype arrived, and Sabrina tested every movement in her garage at home. It wasn’t exactly sexy yet, but through continuous testing, new drawings and improvements, the first BaseLine production began. At the same time, Sabrina developed the BodyBase Workout Method and found the first studio location. In October, BodyBase Rotterdam City Centre opened its doors, introducing its Reformer Fitness, Base Gym concept.
2020
A challenge became an opportunity
After a strong start, COVID forced BodyBase to close its studio in March. But the challenge created a new opportunity. Sabrina returned to the product developers with a new idea: a smaller, compact Reformer designed for people’s homes. The AceLine® and BodyBase On Demand were born, allowing people around the world to experience BodyBase from home.
2021
Growing against the odds
Even during uncertain times, the vision to grow BodyBase and share our passion with more people continued. While the world was still navigating COVID, we started building our next studio. In November 2021, BodyBase Amsterdam De Pijp opened its doors, bringing the BodyBase experience to a new city and community.
2022
Building the Base
BodyBase continued to grow with the opening of our Hillegersberg Black and White Label studio. It also became home to our first head office and corporate team, creating a stronger foundation for everything still to come.
2023
BodyBase enters the Middle East
BodyBase took its first international step in Doha, Qatar. Together with Marriott Hotels, we opened a BodyBase AceLine® Studio and brought the AceLine® into hotel rooms, allowing guests to enjoy their own BodyBase workout with BodyBase On Demand.
2025
Expanding at home and internationally
BodyBase opened its second Amsterdam location in Amsterdam Zuid. That same year, we reached a major international milestone with the opening of our first franchise studio inside the iconic JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, bringing the full BodyBase Studio experience to the United Arab Emirates.
2026
New cities, new concepts, new energy
BodyBase continues to grow with new studios in Haarlem, Rotterdam Kralingen and Utrecht, bringing the experience to two new Dutch cities. We also launched BodyBase Recovery and became an official HYROX partner, expanding the BodyBase experience beyond the Reformer.
